oxygen sensor
my engine light came on when i was driving down the highway yesterday. I did a diagnostic check when i came back and got a code 21 (oxygen sensor signal).
It could be the oxygen sensor itself or the wiring, ( Checked all the connections..no loose wires or dry rotting here)I dont know yet. any way of telling? any way of cleaning the sensor? Because a new one if really expensive. |
No cleaning, only replacing.
They aren't too much $$$. If wiring seems good, then likely sensor. Ohm meter testing, or best is 'on the car' with proper scanner. |
i thought the guy said they were $146.** at the dealership when i called?
at least i think he said $146 |
I you dont want to spend that much look into Bosch O2 sensors, they are cheaper . You can buy them at Auto Zone or Checkers.
|
Don't go with Bosch. You can get NipponDenso o2 sensors at sparkplugs.com far cheaper than the dealer. This is OEM. Also, the "snout" is longer than the Bosch, which gets a better read of the exhaust as it passes through. Check it out.
