You can't replace the map lights with brighter bulbs, as the amperage will over load the circuit, and they will also run too hot and melt things up there.

You can use bright LEDS, as they run much cooler. I bought a 3pk of green ones at Pepboys for $5. They come in several different colors. They are very bright.

I used them by making a little black flat panel and putting them where one of the coin holders was. I hooked them into all my electric cooling fans so I would know when power is going to each fan. I had to paint the lenses black because they were so damn bright, it was blinding at night. Now enough green shows (even daytime) to see ok.

Also, in the past I have removed all the bulbs from the dash and painted them with fingernail polish to get the color I wanted.
