If you have the TSRM use it to follow every vacuum line and make sure there are no cracks and they are all hooked up to the correct orrifice on each fitting, I had one switched around and blammo, ran like crap. Don't forget the ones under the intake plunem(SP?).

i wouldnt let ur engine overheat for more then 20 seconds, mine overheated for about a min or a lil more. BAM head cracked.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 03:26 AM

I think I might have my head checked again cause it was burried in the H for almost a minute. I hope its ok.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 03:47 AM

Ok 2 questions can I use my ARP headbolts again and What size of the HKS metal head gasket should I get? Would I be ok with just the 1.2mm or should I spend a ridiculous $100 more dollars and get the 2.0mm?

dcrusupra 09-01-2006 04:20 AM

The headgasket is supposed to make up for the MMs they shaved off the block/head which is absolutely necessary for a MHG. They need to machine and lap the block and head, making it perfectly smooth.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 03:54 PM

Ok wait so I have to have the block machined too?

Welcome To my world

Cars....you can't KEEP them in your garage, but if you take them out, all they do is cost you money.

Well I found out yesterday that I have a BHG as well....YAY! But the whole proccess of shaving the block, and all that, plus buying the MHG, and getting everything pollished...should be under $1,000 CND.

Just remember...while the engine is apart...its a great time to do other things...even just checking the hoses for leaks, making sure everything is shiney and do anything else you can think of...because when an engine is out, its EASY as anything to work on it.
