Venting

Well crap its been problem after problem with my supra lol. I am hoping one time I will replace a part and everything will be good. But by that time I will have ALL new parts lol. I went and bought new wires and a cap already have new iridium plugs in it. That wasnt it then I got to checking around and measured the resistance on the coil. It was .8 the book says it should be .2-.3 on n/a models and .7-.8 on turbo models. I have a n/a model, maybe someone put a turbo coil on it??? The secondary resistance did not show up at all. I am going to get a new coil today when it comes in at about 4pm, $87! I really hope this fixes the problem!

EDIT: I forgot the turbo models have coil paks lol.

h8z2luze 08-28-2006 11:42 PM

Ok well that wasnt it either. I hooked it up and it did the same thing so I took it back shhhh I never installed it lol. Wow im running out of ideas. The book is wrong cause the new coil's resistance was .7 also.

What exactly is wrong with your car?

h8z2luze 08-29-2006 03:08 AM

I think I might have found my problem. Where the egr valve connects to the intake I Have a vaccum leak. I tightened the bolts more and it still leaks. I am going to get a gasket for it but if that doesnt work then I guess the connector is bent or something. Soooo then if that doesnt work I guess I have to buy a whole new egr valve.

It idles really crappy and misses, changed the wires, new plugs, new rotor and cap. All new vaccum lines. etc...

Supra2NR 08-29-2006 06:21 AM

maybe your timing is wrong?

have you got that checkd?
cuz u said it misses

h8z2luze 08-29-2006 11:12 PM

Yes the timing is fine. Now I have another problem it over heated yesterday so im like GREAT I took out the thermostat and ran without it and it didnt overheat all day then today it did it again after driving for awhile. Also it misses really bad when it gets warm up to about 3000rpm. I am thinking that it might be the heater core cause I turned the heater all the way up and it was cool....

h8z2luze 08-30-2006 12:55 AM

Is there any way to just bypass the heater for now????

Edit: I just looked in the trsm or whatever and it says it could be cause I retarded teh timing and now that I think about it it didnt overheat until I did that... hmmm....

jfunez 08-30-2006 01:13 AM

lol...............................!!!!!

h8z2luze 08-30-2006 03:51 AM

I feel like im answering my own questions lol. Well I found out why it was throwing the knock sensor code. CAUSE IT WASNT PLUGGED IN! That could be a problem... But the idleing bad and missing continues. Even though I just put new iridium plugs in it I am going to pull them and see what they look like cause the pistons had a lot of carbon on them. Could have fouled a plug or something.

dcrusupra 08-30-2006 03:53 AM

Make sure the gap in the plugs are .44

Burn N' Up 08-30-2006 06:32 PM

If you have the TSRM use it to follow every vacuum line and make sure there are no cracks and they are all hooked up to the correct orrifice on each fitting, I had one switched around and blammo, ran like crap. Don't forget the ones under the intake plunem(SP?).

h8z2luze 08-31-2006 04:20 AM

Ok well I found a inch or so of water in my #2 cylinder so ya another bhg I must have ppinched it when I put the head on. Going with a metal HKS gasket this time. SOOOOO PISSED!

Supra2NR 08-31-2006 09:45 AM

calm down
look on the bright side
after this headgasket job with the hks one
it might be another while b4 you go back in there

Ahmad88 08-31-2006 02:29 PM

i wouldnt let ur engine overheat for more then 20 seconds, mine overheated for about a min or a lil more. BAM head cracked.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 03:26 AM

I think I might have my head checked again cause it was burried in the H for almost a minute. I hope its ok.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 03:47 AM

Ok 2 questions can I use my ARP headbolts again and What size of the HKS metal head gasket should I get? Would I be ok with just the 1.2mm or should I spend a ridiculous $100 more dollars and get the 2.0mm?

dcrusupra 09-01-2006 04:20 AM

The headgasket is supposed to make up for the MMs they shaved off the block/head which is absolutely necessary for a MHG. They need to machine and lap the block and head, making it perfectly smooth.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 03:54 PM

Ok wait so I have to have the block machined too?

SupraSaver87 09-01-2006 06:19 PM

Welcome To my world

Cars....you can't KEEP them in your garage, but if you take them out, all they do is cost you money.

Well I found out yesterday that I have a BHG as well....YAY! But the whole proccess of shaving the block, and all that, plus buying the MHG, and getting everything pollished...should be under $1,000 CND.

Just remember...while the engine is apart...its a great time to do other things...even just checking the hoses for leaks, making sure everything is shiney and do anything else you can think of...because when an engine is out, its EASY as anything to work on it.

h8z2luze 09-01-2006 07:55 PM

Well im not pulling the motor...
