Default Head bolts

Do you have to change them every time you take them out ?
well not every time but like when you change the head gasket ?

Aren't head bolts torque to yield?
I thought that they were.

APR studs are about $110, but you can get stock bolts from the dealer much, much cheaper, and probably still cheaper if you buy them from www.toyotaworld.com ...unless the shipping exceeds the savings.
I think that my local dealer charges like $3 a bolt.

Here is a link to torque to yield info as well as other head bolt info as well, that may be of interest:
http://www.federal-mogul.com/cda/con...9_7465,00.html

I know that my head bolts were obviously unusable because the threads had noticable wear.

No, you can reuse the head bolts. They aren't the best for performance, but I have reused them several times with no problems. Just make sure you torque them down to 72 ft lbs. You could buy the ARP studs and replace them one at a time, torqueing them back to 72 lbs then, with all the studs replaced go to 85 lbs to finish the job. But you can reuse the stock ones since you already have.

What was their torque to yield figures? Just curious as compared to what the rest of us now know just what they should be torqued to.
