I disagree..The fan shroud is absolutely needed to make your thermal fan clutch work properly.. With out it, it will not engage/lock the fan clutch to pull the air through the radiator.
It may not be needed when driving, but sitting in traffic on a hot day may cause you to over heat.. These cars do not like it when they over heat...
