i pulled mine apart and it does come into contact with a white cam lever off the seat belt mechanism. it does make a ratcheting sound on my car when the lever is depressed. and that sound is not there when its not depressed. its not for the lights thats the push button just next to it. and it does seem to help the door open up. as far as the alarm switch i think thats ties into the lock mechanism but im not sure on that one.
