Ok, so ive got this simple problem with the interior lights on the
roof not turning on. Ive ripped out the interior light housing and
checked everything inside it. Everything inside the housing seems to
be working awesome. So, the only other idea i had was to rip apart the
door & the side panel where the door light sensor is at. But before i
do this i was wondering where the actual switch is for the interior
lights? Is it with the sensor thats in the door or does it have a
seperate sensor in the door jam?

There also is this spring loaded lever of some sort on each side of
the car, in the door jams. Well on the drivers side it broke off, i
cant figure what the heck its for though. And i dont feel like ripping
the entire rear quarter panel just to figure out what it is. So if any
of ou could tell me what it is, or a possible "easy" fix for the
interior lights not coming on when the doors open that would be great!

PS: Im also looking for: ebrake, Manual Shifter boots. Preferably Tan
in color. Also two front tan leather seats, im more pushy about the
boots though, i need them more then the seats atm. If anyone can help
me out thatd be great!

Thanks!

The broken part on the door is what actually triggers the lights to come on when the door is open and has it shut off when the door closes. do the lights come on when u open the passenger door at all or when you turn them on manually?

It seems that by unsoldering the two diodes inside the light housing, and resoldering them fixed the problem somehow.
As far as the mystery lever that was broken, its for the seatbelt so you can take the seatbelt off easier when the door is open without it ratcheting up. Its broken still so i think i need to get that replaced because at the moment the seatbelt doesnt ratchet or lock up under tension <_< which definitely isnt good if i get in an accident haha..

Ok thanks for the help guys!

the broke thing in the door jam is the arming switch for the alarm

It's also there to help you open the door by giving it a little nudge.

^ agreed

that's all it is there for... the lever thing
pops the door open for ya when you lift the handle

sensor is located below the lever.... has a rubber bung covering it :)

that level is spring loaded, so that if you don't shut the door properly, it pushes it back out again to the second lock so that it trips the interior light and door open light on the dash.

Not for alarm!! For seat belt release !!

Is there power to the dome lights for manual operation?

OK...OK...Now you guys got me going. Ha Ha...I can't tell if you all are joking around about that seatbelt release lever, or are serious with your definitions for it. ?.?.?

suprra_girl 08-25-2005 09:46 AM

it nudges the door open

it does not come into contact with a seatbelt nor anything else ;)
go unscrew yours and find out :P
