Remember, there are 2 TDC's on any engine. One on the compression stroke and one on the exhaust stroke. The one on the compression stroke is the one you want.
Now I assume you have a non-turbo model since you say you have a distributor. But it really doesnt matter. You can find TDC without the distributor installed. You must take out the 1st spark plug and turn the crank pulley clockwise. As you near the 0 degree mark with the notch on the crank pulley listen very carefully to the amount of air escaping through the spark plug hole. Now turn the crank 360 degrees and again, listen very carefully to the amount of air escaping through the plug hole. Whichever time the air escaped the greatest is the TDC you are looking for. Hope this helps. Edit: It helps to have a helper to do the listening while you turn the crank. |

Wouldnt it work if you just watched the cams? And when it pushes down the intake valves right after they close that should be the right TDC correct?
