Default boost trick

any one hear any thing about making it so you can pre load boost, rather than the boost building when you actually put the car in gear. I know most newer turbo cars do that. I can only figure it's a vacume thing.

my friend uses an MSD 2 step rev limiter on his 5sp Conquest Tsi. he says it retards his timing at the same time as he revs it at a stand still. retarding the timing makes the engine think it's under load, so it starts to build boost. he says he can build full boost at the tree before launching. at least that's what he said. i have no experience with that device. you can find those little critters at www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com .

EDIT: i was looking through those websites for it, but all i found was either a rev limiter or timing retarder. unless they have one that features both, then you might have to get two seperate ones. i'll ask him if has one that has both items, or if he had to get them seperate.

The only way to build boost is to turn the blades and that takes exhaust gasses. What some have done is to put a little nitrous boost until it reaches around 6 psi or so.

On an automatic it is easy, put your foot on the brake and gas at the same time till the boost builds then keep it floored. Manual is tougher as you probably already know, there is really no way to get a positive pressure in the manifold without a load. If you rev the engine high enough, when you drop the clutch the impeller will be spinning fast and even though there will still be a lag it might not be as bad.

That is why super chargers work better.
