Cool

studs are better than bolts
but studs require you to pull the engine out
so after the studs are in the head can be put back on
otherwise the head won't be able to fit into the engine bay when studs are in

From what I've been told, when using studs if you're not pulling the engine, you put all the studs in except for the back two. Set the head, then install the last two studs.

how exactly do you set the studs? do you have them torqued in or sealed or what?

ARP studs replace the head bolts. They come with an allen wrench I believe. Not sure how tight you set the stud though, or if they require any special lubricant when you install them. When you're ready to install the head they torque down with nuts, and they can be torqued even tighter than bolts.
