Too loud?

Mine's straight through then. Would getting another one reduce the loudness then? I read that link you pasted, nice.

How do I know a muffler is not straight through? If I can't see the other end of it?

A straight through muffler has a straight exhaust path from inlet to outlet, obviously you can see straight though it.

Then yes, the path from inlet to outlet is straight, nothing in between. I mean, it appears there are things on the sides of it... but from inlet to outlet you can see right through it and there's nothing there. Is this what makes it louder? I need to change it desperately.

my suggestion for when you buy another muffler is to not go by looks (would you do that with a car? no, the only exception is women!) see what other people say and what the company say and for gods sake go with a name brand

Well, luckily it wasn't too expensive, and maybe I could sell it or something. Gonna try to change it this week, because driving the car is giving me headaches.

Go with a universal from Dynomax or Magnaflow.

ok...i just cant imagine swapping power for sound unless you have a hole in your exaust, the louder the better...if you think yours is loud you should here mine, I love the sound..wooooaaaaaa..psssss
