Translation:

My 89 Supra lost a lot of HP. The mechanic said the head gasket was going. He said to flush the motor out with some engine treatment (fixes all blown headgaskets). Now it seems like it lost a lot of power. I drove it last night, opening her up on a straight, and it seems that I've got half the power. Boost seems normal. Please help, thanx.

1st of all your mechanic is fired. I don't know why he would tell you to flush out the motor and it fixes blown headgaskets? Hahahaha, lol, in all my life I've never heard of "Instant BHG Repair In-A-Bottle"! lol What kind of flush did he tell you to use? Anywayz, if it is a BHG then I don't know why he'd tell you flush it out. If you knew it was a BHG why did you drive it hard? Is your car driveable? How many miles do you have on it? Sounds like your putting her to bed fast.

yea...you cant fix a bhg by flushing it out with anything...bhg has to be replaced and bolts retorqued...i think we might need a little more detail so we can assess this situation

Throwing the Bar's in there only slows the inevitable. Hopefully you didn't have a trace of antifreeze in there - otherwise be prepared for a very quick clogging of your cooling system.

Of course, if this is your daily driver, you want to be as gentle with it as you can at this point - unless, like Bullz_EyE said, you're trying to finish the car off as quickly as you can.

Maybe you've got a compression loss in the cylinders, causing the massive loss of power.

I know that most of the people here will tell you that it's not a matter of if the head gasket will blow, but when. Once the symptoms start, everything you do to try and fix it might delay the problem, but never remedy it.

Thumbs down

Go to a different mechanic, at a differnet shop, because a GOOD one will be able to truely find out what's wrong with your car. I'll say no more.

I do have another suggestion, though quite likely not as good as the "go to a different mechanic" one.

Sell the car to me. Make a buck.

I do have several daily drivers running, FYI.
