A 1JZ swap does not cost as much as a 7M-GTE and requires a good amount more patience and labor.
Personally I HIGHLY recommend that the novice avoid swaps altogether and just save until they can start with the desired platform. Save up another $500, buy a GTE and start upgrading from there. The 7M-GE is not built for forced induction (especially not a lot of it) and the electronics can't take it at all. You're looking at spending a grand just to get it close to on par with a stock GTE (reliably). As for JDM engines, used is used.... rebuild anything before you put it in or you're just wasting time. As for cheap eBay turbos? This is all the good stuff I have to say about them: I think that sums it up well.
