4th gear is 1 to 1. It connects the input shaft to the output shaft. Also my favorite gear to boost in.
If 4th gear is fine and all others struggle this would lead me to believe the problem is isolated to the counter shaft assembly in the trans if it's the trans at all. You could drain the fluid into a clean container and look for sparkles (metal shavings) with a flash light. A small amount of fine shavings is normal but not too much and definitely no chunks of anything. Heck, give it a whiff. Does it smell noticeably burnt? It wont tell you if its your problem for sure but it probably needs an oil change anyway. |
