The parts you are reffering to behind the thermostat housing on the exhaust side of the head is the cam position sensor. Did you time that correctly per TSRM?? like the last guy posted you could be 180* off. Put the crank at TDC as well as cam gears. pull out the cam position sensor take the cover off if you have one on and line up the marks. heres the TSRM link on how to do that.
