Default HID lights

i was about to upgrade my low beam headlights (H6054 is the size) and the stereo place that is installing it says i need to replace a part in my car in order for the HID Xenon lights to fit like a lense kit or something since it doesnt plug right in to the stock frame of the light

i havent heard anything about this procedure and if anyone has any input or have replaced there lights to hid it would be greatly appreciated

The MKIII uses sealed dual beam head lights. There is no separate enclosure for the bulb. To use H4 bulbs you need to get a compatible enclosure. Hella or Cibie e-code housings are about the best you can get (Cibie's being on top) and the the DOT housings from either manufacturer are a close second.... they're more expensive than the garbage on e-bay, but because they have the legally required cut-off so you don't blind on coming drivers you're MUCH less likely to get ticketed (happens a lot around here). Actually, I'm surprised you're doing it, you lose your hi beams and you live in Cali.... I know soooooo many people who've gotten busted for these there.... then again I know so many people who've been ticketed for just about anything there.

Anyway, don't get cheap enclosures, the light pattern is horrible (they don't light up the places you want it) and they blind everyone else.

You get much less usable light from most colored light setups.... just as much light is emitted from colored HIDs, but your eyes can't see them. If you ever drive out of the city I recommend against being a dope and picking them 'cause they're 'purdy'.
