what i would do is drill a 4 inch hole right behind your right headlight. and send your w/e style filter under, you may need to drill a second hole to get into the bumper, but when finished your intake is in your bumper.

You don't need to drill anything there's a hole already there which the stock air box breathes through. A 3" 90 degree pipe will put the filter out of the engine bay and right below the headlight. You'll need a cheap AFM adapter (can be had off eBay for around $10 including shipping), a couple silicone couplers, hose clamps, one piece of aluminum pipe with a 90 degree bend and possibly one straight piece, and a "universal" filter with a 3" opening. If you really want to go all out wrap the piping that's in the engine bay with heat wrap or get it ceramic coated.

not in my mk2...
gettin the 2 mixed up again... |
I figured that must be the case.... It's been soooo long since I've looked under the hood of one I can't remember at all how the intake is setup.
|
pretty much the same, but diff.. lol
off topic. there is a mk2 with a jdm 1jz tt for 3k near where i live... but im broke... i want it sooo bad. |
Pipe it down into the front bumper like a intercooler or a ram air I seen a pipe called a pre-intercooler pipe On http://www.siliconeintakes.com it had fins on it like a heat sink and lowered the temp. Alot just from one pipe

What I did was just use some after-market piping from a different car and fabricated my own it looks nice and Cre has seen my work; it's CAI and I have my cone filter behind my bumper with a shield on it to protect from direct splash or rain; now just have to fabricate a front diffuser to better protect it from puddles and find a piece of piping to fit in to replace my big sensor box.

alot of other things on my mind hahha |
if its a turbo.. your gonna get all the air you need anyhow. I would concentrate on bigger injectors / intercooler and turbo.. but if not.
its not really going to make a difference besides looking cool. |
