Default transmission? clutch??

I'm having problems down and upshifting to 2nd gear, when I'm on 1st gear and at about 3000rpm and above and I shift to 2nd gear it grinds in or it wont go in at all because it'll just grind also when i downshift from 3rd gear at around 2500rpm+ to 2nd gear it does the same thng.. do u guys know what the problem is? how can I fix it? how much is it gonna cost?..

sounds like syncreos in the trans. It means a rebuild is in order. If the clutch was the problem it would likely be in all gears. most trans have this problem when the syncroes go. Here i rebuilt a trans for a guy with a mk3 turbo and it cost around 800.00 plus labour. If your mechanically inclined and use the tsrm found on here you can do it yourself. Just need some time and patience and keep everything clean! Hope this helps.

Before you freak out about the expense of a rebuild try fresh gear oil.... Redline MT90 or similar.

Ya definitely check fluid first much cheaper to take an xray than drive right into surgery

what viscosity is it?(did i spell that right lol?) i stay with a 75-90 synthetic it serves me well, and my samurai takes the same crap
i do lots of tranny fluid changes, @ least once a year.

so i did the gear oil change i put in 4quartz of new oil and it still has the same problem, so im gonna guess its the syncros :/.. but im not too bummed since ill be doing a engine/tranny swap in the future.. thnx for the support dudes..

FOUR quarts!?!?!

Joke right? http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...Section=A&P=35 2.5 for w58 and 3.2 for R154.... an extra quart/quart and a half over is BAAAAAAAD (where that damned sheep smilie???).

sorry it took forever to reply been busy..
wow!! i had no clue!! i pumpd out the extra amount already thanks CRE!!.. but still having the problem so its most likely my syncros any ideas of how much it would cost to repair??
