In relation to the OP's question about the cat, no it cannot affect compression tests (if done correctly with all plugs removed) as it's simply part of the exhaust & the compression test is within the engine's cylinders.
a crushed cat could block the exhaust & cause loss of power but I think we need to go into a little more detail of what symptoms you're getting & also check back on the things I previously mentioned. What were the figures you were given for the comp. tests, was there a set of "dry" and "wet" figures given? Engine, N/A? Turbo? Model year? US/JDM etc? please help us to help you
