There are a few differences between the two, off the top of my head I know the oil pans, oil pump sump, fuel injectors, redline, and I'm sure other things are different. And that's if you're going from 87 turbo engine to 90 turbo engine. If you go from N/A to turbo, there's obviously going to be more differences.
So yes, it will fit. There will just be several changes that you need to make for it to work
