EMS = engine management system, the little computer or box that controls the injectors and look's after firing the plugs, you air fuel mixture ,all that sort of crap. you know the shit that makes it go! LOL
i'm not sure if the mapping needs to be altered that's all maybe you should ask your mechanic. Im only a dumbass engineer!!! lol i can machine an engine ,assemble an engine, but i'm the last prick you want to tune your engine!!!! LOL |

ok gteduck let me see if i got this correct....tuning the cam to a positive range will retard my timing allowing my engine to achieve higher rpm thus producing more hp in higher gears but the trade off is not having smooth timing on low steady rpm and tuning my cams to the negative range will my advance my timing allowing for quicker acceleration in lower gears but losing out on top speed and power in higher gears...is my knowledge on this correct?
lol if there was thing i want to do to my supra is definatly rebuild the engine give that baby a new heart a modified heart that is lol

retard/minus/higher revs ( i'm pretty sure )it makes no difference what gear your in, the engine still behaves the same way.i don't know about you but when i give it shit the revs never drop below 3000 to 3500. HEY you only get lag once at worst, if you stay on the pedal a keep the snail winding there is no such thing .lol

There a lot more to it than just advancing and retarding to shift the output peaks... Cam tuning has little to do with the EMS employed, you'll get more out of it that way, but there's no problem with tuning your cam timing on the stock EMS.

Adjustable cam gears can get you a bit more power out of the stock cams, but they really shine when tuning a set of more aggressive cams.
