it's the other way, advance for low end and retard for top end. retarding it lets it rev higher than you normally would be able to, you can tell the differance quite easy once you drive it , i loved holding it at about 3000 rpm in third and then bury my foot . My diff is a 4.1 so it really would launch hard and the extra revs meant i didn't have to shift as early. IT WAS FUN!!!!
