uh, yea but not everyone who reads this forum is. Supra's gotta be pretty popular with kids... Maybe save the foul language for the bar is all I'm saying, you have more words in your vocabulary & you may as well use them.

I'm sorry, but the N/A's mechanical top speed is 142MPH... it doesn't have the gearing to take it past that prior to redline... 89+ have a lower limit as their redline is 250RPM lower still. Your gauge was way off. I have yet to see proof of anyone in a stock N/A breaking 125MPH... that's about the top I could ever get mine too and seems to be the norm for an upgraded N/A with a factory block.

Car and Driver (back when the car was new) tested a unit from Toyota (you may bet your rear that it was thoroughly prepped and extremely healthy) they got the vehicle to 131MPH on a pristine track... fewer bumps and road irregularities to slow them down.

My gauges have been recalibrated, they are not even perfect. Due to the design of the speedometer ambient heat skews the speedometer's readings quickly. The higher the speed the greater the inaccuracy.... there also remains the fact that the tires influence the speedo's readings. A reading of 50MPH while they are cold is not the same as a reading of 50MPH when they are warm... size and tread wear skew things even further.

I found some info indicating that the JDM MKIII did have a speed limiter, the USDM did not and I've sent an email to a friend to see if any other markets did and what the limit was.

EDIT: I'll even admit that the speed I hit in the lower 120's is something I don't even trust... AND it took several miles to get that high AND some of it was downhill.

Ive hit about 148 in an "almost" complete stock 7MGTE, only mods it had was K&N air filter and fitting bracket with a HKS metal head gasket. It was also an A/T US 3.0L version. Was done and checked with a garmin nuvi and some other random GPS. Too bad I was following a 2005 porsche GT2... felt like I was standing still when he took off from me at 140....
OH yeah 1992 MKIII

Ok, I heard back... JDM ECUs appear to be the only ones with a limiter. They are limited to 180km/h (approx 110MPH).

well i just had a HG replaced 3 months ago about, i got exhaust headers, K&N air filter, replaced my ECU main relay, and lots more electrical, and removed my A/C belt im sure im slightly above stock...
and i wouldnt say my gauges were fine if i hadnt tested them..
also i live in a farming comunity with nothing but highway for miles...
but just to reassure myself ill bring a friend and a couple gps's with me on my next test

and 125??
my 2.8 liter 85 went to 140mph easy...

I suppose you missed out on the fact that the N/A MKIII's physical limit, due to gearing, is 142MPH.

But whatever, I'm not going to get into another one of "those" threads... it's been proven time and time again and I've got better things to do.
