if you just have water in the engine from it leaking into the plug hole, then change the oil and rinse the engine of the water.if smoking still persists after letting it run a while, maybe you have a leaking valve seal, or bhg.yes a stuck thermostat will make your car over heat.

Man, that sounds dirty...

Anyway, try the above steps, and also try some ISO Heet. I bought an accord once with water in the engine, and this got it out.

the smoke is white...very white. my hood was open when it started rainingone day. i didnt realize that water was drowning out the plugs...my fault. i live in st louis missouri. i got the car for 2000 and dropped about 500 in so far...so far. its also misfiring it seems. i changed the plugs andthey are all right. so i have no idea. the water might just be making it run rough. it goes down to about 500rpms while idling. right now it is at the mall. it wouldnt start for some reason. this car is becoming more trouble than its worth. but if changing the oil and getting a new thermostat will help, i may change my mind. how much does it usually run to get a bhg fixed? anyone know any trustworthy mechanics in st louis?

white is definitely coolant. im doing a head gasket job right now and its getting fun by the minute. as a temp fix, try the can of block sealer they sell at napa or autozone. ive used it on chevy v8s before and it works well to stop smoking.
