I'm not sure, but could it be a speed limiter? I don't take my vehicles up to those speeds so I really don't know, but I know in my Tacoma the speed limiter is somewhere around 120 mph.

Anyone know what the speed limiter is on the Supra. I'd think it would be higher than 120, but I'm not sure.

I would guess your car has a builtin rev limiter to keep you from blowing your engine.

I own an "87 MKIII n/a. I have driven fast and have the tickets to prove it. As a teenager I lived a relatively small town I did some some street drag racing. But, for your safety and the safety of others I suggest that you do not race on the street unless you want to go to jail after killing some one.

In Florida it is against the law to spin your tires on the road. A mandatory appearance before the judge. I do not know what the penalty would be.

Good luck and be safe,

Speed cut, I have a mines ecu so I don't have that problem. I'd look into an aftermarket ecu or a speed cut defencer. I thought I read somewhere that you could cut a wire and eliminate it as well but I don't know for sure.

Default Moronic Behavior -

The fix is easy and straight forward - but I do not help wanna be posers who put innocent peoples lives at stake by street racing.

I truly hope that next time you pull this crap - you end up before a judge who knows how stupid and dangerous this idiotic behavior is!

You want to go fast and test your limits - take it to the track - there are at least 3 road race tracks within easy driving distance of you - offering track days. So go there be safe and do some actual racing!

Unless of course you know you are a poser who would get his butt beat by guys who actually know what they are doing!

If you want to just go fast - head out to the local drag strip.

You are a dangerous moron who has put other peoples lives at stake. I wish you had the duty of going to a mother and tell her her child was killed by an out of control street racer! thats the only way you will ever realize how stupid and destructive this behavior is!

whoa!
calm down!
im not a damn street racing poser. lol
actually these were the first two times ive ever had my car that fast.
obviously considering im just finding out that it cuts out at 120mph.
i understand what your saying and im not wanting to put anyone at risk.
i wouldnt have done this if it were rush hour or the roads were full.
both times all the lanes were empty besides me and the other car.
but i know what your sayin.
i guess at the time i wasnt thinking.
so chill out with the name calling.
calling me names over the web doesnt make you a bad ass it just makes you look like an ass.

i do agree, street racing usually ends up bad.
and i know where the tracks are and will be there once i fix this problem im having.
thnx

Default Rev Limits

Carl,

I loved your reply. Mine why was not pointed enough. We have had about a half of dozen street racing fatalties here in the Orlando, FL area in the last few years.

The judicial system got a law passed that you can not spin your tires on pavement, or the old word "scratch off". The speed and erratic and agreesive driving on the streets was really bad here about ten years ago..

The penalty is for street racing is pretty stiff, even for being a spectator. We recently had a spectator killed and three months later the arrested the driver who was driving the killer car.
