Default Personal issues

New to the forum, just thought I would present my current issues haha. Hope you don't mind my question.

So I recently traded my 2001 Audi A4 Avant for a 1988 Supra, 7MGTE aftermarket everything yadda yadda... The motor had 6,000 miles on it, had all receipts, dyno, tuned, etc. 442WHP. Sounded all legit, built by a well known local shop. I was very excited as my Audi had much to be desired in the performance category, and going from a supercharged VW R32 to a station wagon, it was time for a change.

So anyways, not saying it was the PO's fault in any way, shape, or form, the transmission decided to drop first and third gear less than 20 minutes after I picked up the car. I admit that I am hard on cars, did not believe I was being that hard on it, but that could be argued all day. Not an issue, though, I will get a new transmission. The car was brand new to me so I didn't mind spending a little money on the car, plus I only got to drive it for that little bit. I spent around $1500 for a good used transmission, rebuild, and some Marlin Crawler bits thrown in. Claims the transmission will be good for around 700WHP. Sounds good to me.

So I go pick up the car from the shop. I decide I will take it easy on the new transmission for a while. Everything seems good. Mechanic test drove the car, he has been a great family friend for years and I know he would never beat on a car. So there is no issue there. I leave the shop, get to the first light and take off. 3000RPM, shift to second, 3000RPM shift to third, 2000RPM, shift to fourth. Taking it easy. Everything is beautiful. Get to the next light, do the same driving pattern, only this time there is a barely noticable knock at 3000RPM. Try again at the next light. I checked the oil before I left the shop and it was full. Maybe a lifter or something from sitting for a while decided to make some noise? Nope. Car locked up and skidded down the road. I had oil pressure as this happened. I shut it off and coast to the side. Try to start the car, sounds like seizing is coming soon, shut it off instantly. Must have just been going out and I never heard it over the exhaust.

So I call my friend, he tows the car back to his shop. Now my question is, WHAT DO I DO? I'm now growing tired of this car. It's been sitting at the shop for over 2 months now because I don't want to spend another dime on it, yet I know if I try to sell or part, I will get nothing out of it in its current state. I've also been looking at stroker short blocks, which would be awesome, but what will go wrong after that is all said and done?

Sorry about the book, but I'm just torn with this car. Now I'm stuck driving my backup vehicle, a very high mileage 93 Chev S10 that hardly gets to work and back. What would you guys do if it happened to you? I'm currently looking at a 2000 Audi S4 to start driving. Should I just sell the Supra as-is and get out while I can? I'm a VW person at heart and I am not pleased with this haha.

Thanks in advance
Tom

If u had an 89 or newer, i would suggest swapping to a 1jz engine, but with the 86-88, u would change the motor mounts.

Sounds familiar, see post 2 Link. Before you decide on anything, remove the oil filter and open it up to see if there's any bearing material inside.
