Default BOV Question

I was intersted in how the BOV was working on my 87 Turbo. I noted that the BOV is in a tube that circumvents the turbo - which is where it should be. But, my question is regarding the small tube coming out of the top of the BOV. This extends across the engine and connects to the engine on the driver side? What is this tube, what is it going to and why?

I always assumed these protected against overpressure and dumped air if the pressure was too high. I would assume it would be save to just dump under the hood?

I have also been in some other vehicles and the BOV has that lovely "psssss" sound but the supra lacks this. Any way to get it?

Its a plumb back system.

Take off the plumb back line, plug up where the line re-enters the system, you'll get your 'pshhh' noise

Personally, i find plumb backs to run better. *shrug*

I think it helps with spool by keeping pressure present in the system (could be wrong).

However the standard 7m valve is shiet and seems to constantly leak boost, so replace it.

Keeping cost in mind. Any good suggestion for a replacement?
