That's what i was afraid of..
If i put it in "L" and step on it, it goes quicker than in drive. If my transmission is slipping thats not a cheap fix is it? ![]()

Typically, no... More than likely you'll probably need a rebuild. When I took my tranny in to get rebuilt, I dumped a little over a grand on it. It would have been an extra 500ish bucks if I left it on the car, but I pulled it myself.
You could try getting a used one (via eBay, this forum, Pick a Part junkyards), but if it works it'll only be a temporary thing because these transmissions are old, and it is inevitable that they will have to be rebuilt at some time

You know, I was thinking today and completely overlooked one possible cause: How's the tranny fluid level? Low fluid would cause slipping...
Also, in the TSRM is a step-by-step diagnostic procedure on the A/T you should check out... It helped me isolate my problem to a faulty solenoid, saving me from having to pay for a rebuild (again)

Beware changing Trans fluid in an auto trans you do not know has been serviced within the last 40k. Changing the fluid could make things worse. Did this start after you had a trans fluid change?
