I really hate to say it, but it sounds like with lack of oil you might have siezed up the engine. That metal on metal noise was due in part to your cylinders grinding on the cylinder walls. If you know how to take the engine apart that's the first place I would start, asses the damage from there. If not then time to take it to your local shop.
