I don't know if supramacist is joking or not, but that is terrible advice. It sounds like you have a blown head gasket. Without taking the engine apart, i don't see how your mechanic came to the conclusion of a cracked block vs. other things that cause the same symptoms. Check under your oil cap/check your oil. Is the cap white underneath? Is your oil milky looking? Dont drive or run the car anymore until you know the problem and fix it.

Any metal components that need oil can not come into contact with coolant because if they do.

Oil will never adhese to them again. Without a complete tear down and mineral wash and I'm not sure if that'll solve it.

If you have coolant running out your tail pipe. Please.

Common logic dictates it's time to start fresh.

Terrible advise???? This dude has not a single clue.

And you want him to rebuild his own shit. Get real.

You scrapped the car. You shucked a tooth you're out of the game.

Find a car that you can fix and will stay fixed. Because for the 5k you're going to spend to make this issue go away.

You can almost own something that runs and will continue to run.

These are project cars. Very few of us have daily drivers and if we do it's because we keep it that way.

You're going to embark upon a never ending process.

Research this crap. See how many people have just bought a supra and see how many of them are still paying to fix them or just had it fixed for it to break again.

Poor advice is telling this guy to get to work on something that's going to take him too much time to fix..., only for it to break down again because he listened to someone that still had no clue.

Save yourself the ongoing headache. Get a car that runs and will keep running.

I have over 10k into a 3k car. You're going to end up in the same boat.
And I still have parts on order.

I'm done feeding the toyota monster. I'm done trying to talk sence to you new guys.

You get what you deserve just like the rest of us are STILL getting.

With the exception of those few of you master mechanics that tune in from time to time.

Stop seeing the car as you want it to be. And accept it for what it is and that's a project car. That you work on for months to drive half a mile to find out what's still wrong with it.

If you know how to fix cars, you would know its not going to be cheap. Dont go into it expecting to pay what you think it will cost. It always costs more than you expect.

I don't mean anyone here any disrespect.

These cars are problematic, to say the least.

Yes you can fix it yourself. But should you is the question.

There are so many ins and outs and things you can over look.

If you go into this build and rush it or cheap out.

You'll be doing it again, probably before the next oil change is due.

Coolant out of the tail pipe is not good.

Basically it means you're screwed.

The least you can hope to spend if you do a decent job that has a shot at holding is just shy 2 grand,

MK3 pimp is exactlly the kind of new guy telling people bogus trash that leads to them spending money to do it again. I wonder if he has a supra. Let alone one that can be driven.

I say what I say looking out for you. You have to LOVE this car.

You have to be passionate about it because it's going to make you jump through hoops. It's going to test your every ability as a mechanic.

If you're new. And haven't torn an engine down. It could be intimidating.
If it's not. You're probably messing something up even more so.

This is a great forum if you decide to take the blue pill.

CYF knows his stuff and is a good source. We aren't all always going to agree. But we can still respect and help one another. Sidewinder is a good source also. Matter of fact I am probably the most questionable source speaking. Decide for yourself.

You should think long and hard before you spend another dollar on the car.

You couldn't be more blunt and precise at the same time Supramacist. I bought my supra, had it a half a year and got a BHG. Then another BHG so I stripped it down myself, got the block honed and surfaced and the head surfaced, new pistons, radiator is twice the size, an after market oil cooler and put a multi layer steel head gasket on.

The biggest point of all this is, go the whole nine yards, or else you would have the most un-reliable car on the face of the planet.(almost)

I jumped into the overhaul with $3000, spent over $6000 in the first year. I did all the labour myself except the machine work. I'm a sheetmetal engineer and had the luxury of a workshop and tools.

I'm sorry guys.

I'm not one to sugar coat much of anything.

This is how these cars are. Plain and simple.

I haven't bought a new car and mine hasn't ran more than a test drive in 2 years.

I'm not a mechanic gents. But I'm not clueless either.
