There's a sensor in the overflow container.
You need to have enough coolant to turn that dash light off. But in your case. It wouldn't hurt to fill it up because it's going to suck something into the engine from that container. It can either be coolant or air. You don't know how much air you have in the system at all. The bigger and more loud the waterfall volume. The more air you have. I'm betting he tells you to fill it up. |

You can fill up the coolant over flow to the full level, or slightly above or slightly below. The reference is just nice so that when you compare the engine cold a couple days from cold now, you will have a nice line to compare it to.
The main thing to get out of this that after you fill your rad to full, and have your coolant overflow to a known reference, a few days from now the rad should still be full, and the coolant overflow at the same level you left it at. If the rad is low, or the coolant over flow is drasticaly different (higher or lower) somethings funny.... |

I wasn't trying to close the thread. I was just saying. Pretty much every scenario has been covered. I'm just a member here guys. I'm here to learn as well. Just like you all. I hope I'm of some use. |
