Not to counter what marc said, but buying a imported engine and not doing a re-build is not always a good idea, the previous owner of my car had a swap done by a local shop with no rebuild, turns out the engine has a valve shim problem and it taps like rod knock. You never know what you are going to get with one.
What you should do is get a stethoscope and listen around the engine to make sure your knocking sound is coming from the bottom end, like I said my engine sounds as if it has rod knock, it even sounds like its coming from the bottom end but when I took a listen with a home made stethoscope I discovered it coming from the head. If it is coming from the bottom end you are probably going to have to pull the engine and go from there. Good luck!! |
