Default where to buy?

Just joined the Supra world with an 89 Mk111 with, you guessed it, a blown head gasket. I would like to do the metal head gasket and head studs, but not sure where to buy them. I did some parts store searching and for a basic top end gasket kit they want anywhere from 250-350! Where can I get an upper (head gasket, exhaust gasket, intake gakset, valve stem seals etc)gasket kit from for less!? and I also hear head studs are a bitch, I'll do some more searching for that answer, but if someone could lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. thanks!

I would spend the extra dough and get a MHG. That is actually what I am doing.

Well if you always go off what you hear you will never know the truth.

ARP head studs are F&CKING beautifull. They are pretty to look at and when you torque them down you realize ever so quickley where all of that extra cheese went.

I don't know where some of these people get there pricing from on here but QUALLITY PARTS are what build bullet proof engines.

Performance Parts Aftermarket and Racing

dial extension 103 and speak to Dave.

Standard pricing for arp products are around 225$

A real MHG like an HKS stopper is right around 350$

You guys using cheap parts will regret it. Spare no expense on your supra for well rested nights.

are head studs really difficult to install? do they just screw in with some thread sealant, or are they left hand thread?

you can install the studs yourself, just follow the procedure that comes with them. also if you get a metal headgasket, you will need to make sure the RA of the block is below 25 or it wont seal correctly and will bhg again. if you want to just replace the headgasket, a oem will work, just dont turn the boost too high.

You set the head on the guide pins on the block.
You drop in the washers...., you will see there is a groove cut just for them.
Then you molly everything and start inserting studs.

Nothing funky about it. No wierd trash about the studs unless you order them that way. And I'm not sure you can.

Everything will be more clear when you can actually eye ball your new parts.

So long as you take your time and think before you work.
These engines are great to work on and once you know how. The starter is still a pain in the a$$.

Thumbs up ARP Studs

i agree 100% ARP Studs are easy And Work wonderfully.. i had a 87 Supra, Blew a headgasket....a 88 supra, blew a head gasket, then i thought i found a nice running 89 turbo supra, well i was so happy to find it i only drove it for 15 min on the test drive, didn't even make it home and knew it had a blown head gasket...... so i put ARP's And Cometic MLS headgasket... torqued the studs to 90 FTP and havent worried about them since... Dave At Horsepowerfreaks.com knows his shit, and he gets it done, when building a supra make sure you stick with one person on your parts, you'll see the deals getting better and better.... good luck, do it right the first time, or you will be very sorry.
