Default 1jz 2jz 7m

hi guys, as i stated in previous thread im new to supras, and bought a 85 celica supra. i gather this is the 5m motor? it has 202k miles on it, runs and is auto. i bought it for a daily driver for the moment. but anyways can you guys give me info on the diff motors that are easily fitable into this chasis? i searched and most sites dont tell hp/tq/cr/ and other specs i wanna know, so if you guys can tell me some info on the 5m 7m 1jz and 2jz and differences of them id appreciate it, thanks!

The only motor that goes in easily is a 5m, all the others require mods. Did you search here because being a supra forum I'm sure your question has been asked about a thousand times.

Default engine fitup in 85 supra

I beg to differ, the 5M, 6M, 7M. All use the same block so they will bolt right up to the tranny and the mounts are the same, the only thing you will have to do. if you put the 7m in you will have to change ecu and the wiring. the 6m from my research you will only have to change minor things. The other engines will require mods to the fram and chasis.

Yes the 5,6,7m's all use the same blocks but the motor mounts do vary between models and years. The 1'2jz series motors on the other hand will drop in but you will have to fab your own motor mounts, tranny mounts,wiring,etc..You will not have to do any chassis or frame mods..

Sorry if I was wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Its been a while since I was going to do the 2jz trade and 6 speed tranny. The research I did about three or four years ago showed that you had to do some major fab and mod to the mounts frame and a little to the firewall for the tranny. Since then they might have made the fab easier.

Exclamation

With the right mods you can have more power in your 5/6m motors N/A than a some boosted 7m's..Because the 5,6m's have the 12 valve setup the valves are larger and can withstand more heat build up than the little valves in the 24 valve 7m heads..A 5/6m motor can be pushed to 240hp easily with the right internal mods..Cams,pistons,rods,port@polish,etc..Now with a turbo thrown in there you will be able to desimate almost any 7m..Because the valves can handle more heat that means they can also handle more boost..So build up your bottom end get some forged pistons and boost it on up and kick ass in your MKII that is already got the weight advantage over the PIG and JellyBean!!
