Hey yall I am a new member and I need to learn alot about these cars. Just recently got the 1982 V6 Celica/Supra from my grandparents for free. A whole lot of body and surface rust but motor is in dang good shape from what I can see. I am trying to find some engine specifications, like HP,torque, how much HP at the wheels and how much at the crank. Are there any performance parts other than a Turbonetics Turbo or a Powerdyne Supercharger? I would like to upgrade the cams, maybe a true cold air intake from AEM or K&N, and possibly a Greddy Exhaust if I can find one for under 650$. If anyone has any info. on this car, performance parts, car audio or anything else! It would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! - BRICK EDWARDS

well first thing you learn is your engine is a straight 6 :P

from memory they're about 160hp
there are quite a few of the celica supra engines
single cam, twin cam
2.8ltr 2.0

have a look at your vin plate and it should tell you what you've got

the american market 5m if it is the 2.8 engine, is not as high as the jdm one. jdm is around the 160 mark, the american one is 145hp. not sure why the difference, but i assume it's to do with america's tighter emmisions control laws, etc.

Anyone have this car and if so, are they fast? Where can I find a cat-back exhaust or a header? I wanna run a Greddy turbo. Already looked at 935motorsports and the other one ripder.com or something like that!

well you its fast if you swap the engine tho.... or at least you run mk3 turbo than yeah....you can use mk3 header too...it just bolt on perfect....or you can get a fter martket header the only company made is peacesetter.....but i not sure if they still discontinues...or not...so you might want to check that out....you can run a greddy turbo but like i said....first modify mk3 header into your 5mge or swap ur engine to 7mgte with turbo....n upgrade the turbo from there...hope that work for you...n hope you find it....let me know if you got the turbo....n those stuff....alright....peace out...have a nice one... :P

i used to have 2 o' dem. if u really want to go turbo, do the engine swap to the 7mgte (heeeheee i have spare engine harness) or u can visit rabidchimp.com. they have a bolt on kit. its not cheap, but no one else makes one for the 5mge that i could find...

Rabidchimp also has the 6mge, which is a 200hp 3.0L engine. It's a way easier swap than the turbo, though doesn't make as much power. Unless you're looking for a crazy performance machine, I'd say go with the 6mge.

thats sounds pretty good. i didnt know they offered the 6mge, but then i never looked for it. locally, they offer them for 700-900(6mges). just depends on how many miles are on dem.
