Question replace 5M by 6M

Hello, I have one supra 85 and I think replaced the 5M-GE 5 speeds by a 6M-GE 5 speeds, are there modifications to make on the wiring harness and this transformation can be done? Thanks! 007supra

No mods..It is a direct swap over..The only diference in the 5 and 6MGE's is the crank..The 5MGE is only 2.8litre and the 6MGE uses a longer stroke crank from the 7MGE which turns it into a 3.0litre and rates it at 190hp instead of 170..To do this it has its own seperate crank timing gear to make up for the stroke diference so the timing will be right on..You may have to mod the MAF though if the CE light comes on..It might read a lean mixture and a small 5 min mod and youll be right on the road agian and no more lean code.. Keep us posted any more questions just hit me up..

the 6m from 5m swap is an easy one, but how much harder is it to swap for a 7m gte?, in terms of time and money and what kind of skill/experience needed.

i believe you have to use the oil pan from your 5m on your 6m engine. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah and the oil pump also..Forgot about that..A 7MGTE is fairly difficult swap for the novice..Some of the guys on celicasupra.com could probably do it in a weekend..

Default Cressida Engine?

Speaking of 5mge/6mge swaps and direct bolt ons.. I can only seem to get "cressida engines" for order, but will an 88-92 Cressida engine (6mge) bolt into an 84' Supra?

I also suffer from that novice problem, not capable of dropping the 7m into my mkII.

Youll have to change the pickup and oil pan also..The motor mounts may be different..

You mean the motor mounts for a cressida 6m as compared to a supra 6m? I know they are completely different body styles. I would have to use the supra's pickup and oil pan right? Not a cressidas?

well.. i dont know how you want it to be... but when we do that on my friends silver mk2 supra... i didnt remember that we change the oil pick up and the oil pan tho... i didnt remember on that part... but yeah... but anyway... the 6m from cressida and the 5m were the same... just that the 6m came with 3.0 instead of the 5m with 2.8.... and the engine mount on the 5m n 6m block is the same... but if you talk about the engine mount on body frame that tight the motor to the car. then yeah it looks difference but it still bolt up the motor... correct me if i wrong.... n nosense...
