depending on the year (one of mine is an 85) that seems to be a factory hiccup that you lock the door hold up the handle and close the door to set the alarm. Unfortunatly when you unlock the door the alarm does not delay. I have not found that there was ever a delay set. Just have to be quick getting to the switch to cancel it. sorry couldnt help.

if you close the door then lock it w/the key it wont set the alarm. then when you want the alarm set just lock it inside then hold the door handle up. even then mine has gone off a couple of times. dont know why unless someone tried to open the door or maybe just gremlins.

Ok Guys I think I might be able to help with this one.
My 85 supra did the same thing in the 90's.
There is a small and I mean small switch in both doors that fails.
If you remove the inner door panels you can feel inside and down towards the back of the door, there you will find the wire for it, all you have to do is get a new switch if they still make them.
i work with a ex toyota mech and will talk with him to see if any other makes of toyota's takes the same switch.
