Ok Guys I think I might be able to help with this one.
My 85 supra did the same thing in the 90's.
There is a small and I mean small switch in both doors that fails.
If you remove the inner door panels you can feel inside and down towards the back of the door, there you will find the wire for it, all you have to do is get a new switch if they still make them.
i work with a ex toyota mech and will talk with him to see if any other makes of toyota's takes the same switch.
