A lot of times when you get the pressure plate from the dealership, it's one that they have had re manufactured. They resurface the plate that the clutch disc makes contact with, which in turn means the forks on the pressure plate does not push in as far as it should. When you push in on the clutch it releases pressure off of the clutch disc. If they have cut away some of the surface of the pressure plate, then it will not allow all of the pressure to be off of the disc. Therefore it acts like clutch will not work completely. I only get new pressure plates when I replace a clutch because of that reason.
