I just replaced the front 10cm speakers (4") with a pair of Kenwood KFC-1050's - excellent midrange considering they only set me back ?20.
Head Unit is a JVC KD-G111, slot load single CD tuner. The only thing I plan on doing now, is replacing the rear speakers, and then...well, thats about it - much prefer to hear the engine, or the passengers speaking ![]() |

so i have put 4" Rockford Fosgate Power speakers with tweeters in the front. I put 5.25" RF Punch with 2 tweeters each in the back. Mounted 2 of the rear tweeters to th A-frame where it meets the dash, the other 2 to the rear speaker covers facing the front of the car. Im saving to get a 12" Punch stage 3 sub, but for now im running a 12" Insignia. And ive got a Kenwood head unit. I a fan of my system, it sounds good and i did all the wiring and placement and all that by myself.

i was planning a massive sound system , with 6-8 midarange 5 1/2 speakers 2 12 inchs and 2 15 inches , i even got the molds ready for it, two 2000 watts amps 2 capacitors, it was a big project but then i realize, i need to respect the race car that it is , after all it is a SUPRA, so now i jus got 4 5 1/2 speakers one on each door and two in the hatch
although i am thinkin of creating a removable layout in the back where the subs and amps, speakers are built , and with the wires with easy disconnect, so i can take it out when i got a race comin up and put it back in jus for show

Get some amazing deals on system components here!! These guys have the lowest prices I've ever seen--I'm getting a complete 2400W amp, 2 x 10" enclosure (plexi-glassed) and a new head unit with DVD/MP3/CD/TV/iPOD/RCA-Inputs/Outputs/Motorized screen, a wire kit & a bunch of Dynamat for all-together less than $750.
http://www.carstereodiscounts.com/default.asp All that power, and I'll get to save a lot of space in the car. Here's my basic idea (the components should be coming in today) where I get to enjoy nice sound, and keep the space in my hatch (SORRY FOR THE MESS---I'M FINALLY GETTING THIS CAR BACK ON THE ROAD AFTER 2 YEARS): ![]() I'm going to cut around the box to give me an extra 3-4" head room for the box. Making a trap door for the spare will make sure I can get to it if I get a flat without having to take out my system to do it. I wanted lots of power, while still looking as stock and remaining as functional and practical as possible ;-) Hope this idea can help someone. I'm going to take another picture when I install the system about 3-4 weeks from now. marcus@wewillworship.org |

![]() Update: Apparently, remanufactured.com has great deals on the 5MGE engine...but are bad at followup. I called them late last week and they said my engine was supposed to ship on Monday of this week. ![]() ![]() I also just picked up a 3 Farad capacitor from cardiscountstereos.com for like $80 (clearance). And the wireless mic came in (that's gonna be fun). How are everyone else's projects coming along? Last edited by marcus_mk2_84; 08-17-2006 at 03:21 AM. Reason: adding text |

In my opinion the best speakers in terms of clarity, mid's and plenty of high's would be Polk. I used to be a huge infinity fan but lately Polk has just come out with better stuff. I have Polk home theater speakers and have worked in Home Theater for 3 years and Polk have always out performed anything else. But as for the setup in my car it's as follows:
1990 Toyota Supra 88' Turbo 5-speed Replaced 4" door housings with the 5.25" 91' Housings Put Polk 5.25" MoMo MMC5250 Speakers Mounted tweeters on the door panel halfway between the window and the speaker grill (if that makes sense) Run the Eclipse 7000 Head Unit (Best head-unit I've ever had) A Kicker 6ZX5502 2-Channel Amplifer 210wx2 (powers the Polk's) An Ecplipse 10" SW7000 Dual-Coil Subwoofer 10" Prefabricated Sealed Enclosure Pushed by Eclipse XA1000 Mono Amp That's all right now. I may add speakers in the back but I don't want to tear it up trying to fit speakers back there, or take up any more space of the hatch with sealed speakers; because I refuse to put 4" speakers back there. I rather have nothing than 4" speakers. They won't be able to keep up with the Polks. This is a clear sound setup. It's not designed to be heard 3 miles away. It's not the best for everyone because some poeple like loud speakers, some like more mid-range and some like alot of bass from every speaker. In this case you would go with a different brand sub or a higher end Eclipse sub. The SW7000 punches hard enough to shake the cars adjacent to you at a 4 way stoplight, but accurate/tight enough to keep up with any music accurately. I really, really like the sound it produces. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Thanks When looking for a subwoofer, keep in mind that we drive hatches and in the way it's designed pretty much any sub will sound pretty good. I would recommend saving some change and putting it towards a better headunit, or better speakers... or better yet a bigger turbo!! Last edited by XtreeX; 10-10-2006 at 09:30 AM. Reason: A Tip |
