it runs! changed out the ecu, and boom. the battery wont charge though so gotta look into that. i just bought a 91 integra that im gonna use as a dd so the supie will remain fresh. gonna get historic tags for it so insurance stays low. i ordered rotors, pads, and ss lines from 935motorsports and new tires. once i get the pads in, gonna throw them on and take the car for a spin! omg im getting excited

edit: will take pics of said parts tomorrow

95supratt 07-03-2007 09:51 PM

question

this might sound dumb, but did you go to school to learn all the mechanics of cars, or you just know from tinkering? thnx

j3pz 07-04-2007 04:20 PM

nope no training here. learned from just jumping right into it, lots of reading and searching, and these forums.

ninja edit: i also hang out with friends that work on there cars (turbo civics, turbo 5.0 fox bodies, srt4...)

j3pz 07-04-2007 05:23 PM

thank you. it runs awesome. im about to get the power steering working on it; its a biotch trying to park. i would have done it already but ive had a lot going on between work, getting my dd on the road, getting ready for college, and just being lazy...

ill have to take some pics of the inteior, its so clean. it burgandy, at first i was planning on changing it because it just not a pretty color. but after taking all the parts out and vacuuming it out, omgz, its so freaking nice... that ugly red wears on ya... so in short i decided not to change it... yet

fulljapan 08-15-2007 02:53 AM

Hahaha, at first I hated the color too but now, like you said, I'm getting used to that "ugly red"

AbsoluteSpeed 08-16-2007 06:46 PM

This is a lot of work for a back yard project and it is coming along very nicely congrats and keep up the good work. :bigthumb:

j3pz 08-16-2007 10:23 PM

tyvm

my plans for the next year:

1. paint job- stock toyota white, maybe with some pearl or metal?
2. 89+ plastic moldings - i hate the metal ones, rust ftmfl
3. rims - something cheap for now, mkiv tt's or some other 5/6 spokes
4. keep it clean and running good

last night i drove it for about ~70miles no problems what so ever. my speedo dont work so i investigated it some yesterday and it would appeare my lower cable it broke, so time to look for one, actually two, need one for the 88 also...

carfanatic89 09-07-2007 02:47 AM

You know whats funny i just started looking though the pics you posted and the tires you have on your car are the same exact tires i have on mine. they have been good to me so far.

j3pz 09-07-2007 10:17 PM

ya i needed to get some new tires and local place had a good deal so i said sold...

looks like your on your way, what color are you going to paint it?

j3pz 11-15-2007 01:07 AM

im thinking im going to paint it white with red metallic flake to match the maroon interior, then on the mouldings im gonna paint it the same with more red flake to make it stand out a lil moreor white with a red pearl... something like that

Chambers 11-15-2007 03:11 PM

Nice, hope it comes out the way you want it. Good luck.

Lookin good man!! Got to love them "Historic" tags. I've got them on my car as well. Let me know how those gauges and turbo timer goes for ya!

j3pz 02-05-2008 09:10 PM

i finally had a chance to install my tt today. install was easy. between work, school, the weather, and working on the other supra, dont have much time to work on this. i also replaced my acordian hose. im looking forward to installing my gauges.

spider503 02-07-2008 06:17 AM

got to give you props on all the work on the car. looking and thinking about buying a 89 turbo i just found and taking it away from the guy that knows nothing about his supra. i dont know much but want to put time into working and learning about them.

j3pz 02-08-2008 10:33 PM

thanks alot man. it feels good working on the car and then enjoying it :bigthumb: there is still alot to do to it.

suprabeast 03-02-2008 05:43 PM

sorry for bringin up an old post but what are historic tags?

Chambers 03-03-2008 01:32 AM

Historic tags for MD will exempt your vehicle from emissions and inspections. The catch is that it must be at-least 20 years old and it cannot be driven every day.

j3pz 03-04-2008 11:11 PM

plus insurance is cheaper :). i have the tags for two years, after which i think ill just get regular tags, sell my acura, and drive the supra everyday. im getting some more small things in for the supra. almost have the gauges in. when im done ill take some pics. im also planning to replace my hg and install some headstuds so i can turn the boost up and not worry about anything.

suprabeast 03-04-2008 11:41 PM

here in mo your car has to be 25yo o well its my only car anyway so i would have to drive it and im going NA-T in the near future so im going to be driving everyday

j3pz 03-24-2008 02:57 AM

did a lil bit this last week. i installed an oil filter relocation kit along with these:
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...0322081806.jpg
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k9...0322081807.jpg

white on during the day and red at night. prosport ftw. and something i discovered installing the oil filter relocation kit, coolant in the oil. looks like im going to be replacing my hg, luckily i was planning to do it already

Chambers 03-24-2008 03:00 AM

Nice, could you get a pic of the entire dash with the new guages in the shot?

Looks as if they fit pretty good.

Sucks bout your HG, but good to hear your getting a new one.

j3pz 04-01-2008 10:39 PM

ill try to remember to get a shot the whole dash. my camera is being sent in to be worked on, it eats batteries for some reason. i think i also need to replace my battery in my car; after installing the gauges my battery kept draining. im ordering a felpro hg kit, timing belt and tensioner from my buddy at advanceauto and arp headstuds and a catch can from ftmfw driftmotion. so after i get everything and do some more research ill dig into the motor. still needing a paint job; my friend is gonna help paint my integra, and if its decent i might have him help paint the supie
