I can't see how it could be the head gasket if the engine was just rebuilt. They didn't put a thermostat back in it for some reason. My experience with Supras is that damn headgasket, but Toyota...

radar detector
Drive less than ten mph over the speed limit and you probably won't be ticketed. In my estimation radar detectors are worthless. The police have instant on now and by the time your detector goes off...

If its not a problem bringing it in to Canada I would look for a car in the southern tier of States where it would be rust free. I have purchased a 89 Supra and a 97 Lexus SC400 this way and...
