i need some help with parental control

i inherited my dads modified supra with lots of upgrades, including aftermarket turbo, rebuilt top end, and other things. anyways... he told me that he had it "de tuned" and he wont tell me how to "re tune" it, so i can experience it to its full potential so if anyone has any idea on how to get it to its full potential please let me know
thanks,
adam

He'll tell you when the time is right. For now just keep it out of the ditch.

dannydavi 05-21-2007 07:19 PM

here here!! yeah get used to it at that speed.

j3pz 05-22-2007 12:30 AM

ya respect the work and time your dad put into the car. take care of it and learn to appreciate it.

RESPAKT FTW

supraboy380 05-22-2007 01:22 AM

ive already owned the car for a year and a half, almost 2 years, and ive only been in one wreck, and that was because i was run off the road, so im not a reckless driver, i just want to see what my car can actually do!!

IHateHacks 05-22-2007 01:49 AM

Thats one wreck too many. I've been driving for 7 years without any accidents or wrecks.

Is there anything on the car to actually tune the car with, like a S-AFC II? Boost controller?

He probably just turned the boost way down and/or retarded the ignition timing.

supraboy380 05-22-2007 03:31 AM

ya theres a manual boost controller, but i don't know if hes just saying this, but he said that if i turn it up that it will just cut out, and i tried it aned thats what it did, instead of 10 psi it went to 12 but just cut out right away, when its at 10 it won't cut out

j3pz 05-23-2007 01:45 AM

ok ill play devils advocate... what does the car have???

supraboy380 05-24-2007 12:07 AM

lol thanks, it has a turbonetics t3 ceramic ball bearing turbo, rebuilt top end ( capable of up to 20k rpm), re built injectors, 3" exhaust, all together hes put over 18000 into it, so i know theres alot more to it than what hes showing

twerb089 05-24-2007 01:25 AM

um 20,000 rpm?

dcrusupra 05-24-2007 01:43 AM

Lol the head might be rated for 20k rpm but not the bottom end, dont rev any higher than 5000-5200 rpm. thats where the power band stops anyway.

supraboy380 05-24-2007 03:07 AM

ya the top end, but anyways lol... does anyone know how to help me with my problem?

mr.w 05-24-2007 04:04 AM

You said it cuts out after 10psi of boost, so maybe there is a fuel cut?

supraboy380 05-24-2007 04:28 AM

ya, and i told him that and this might just be his cover story but he said, well then you need a bigger fuel pump, so i don't know

mr.w 05-24-2007 08:19 PM

Well if he put the stock fuel pump back in then it would make sense on why the car cuts out. I believe the stock fuel pump can only deliver enough fuel for under 12psi.

supraboy380 05-25-2007 12:12 AM

oh..... do you think that there is any other way that he could've "detuned" it?

IHateHacks 05-25-2007 01:57 AM

Unless it has a stand alone engine management system (i.e. AEM EMS) then the answer is no. This is an OBD I vehicle.

Check the ignition timing. Thats about the extent of "tuning" a stock ECU MK3 supra.

And 20k rpm, yeah ok buddy.

supraboy380 05-27-2007 06:00 PM

i just found out some more news lol, the guy that helped him "de tune" my car said he wont tell me, but that he took off the pulleys that were on there and put on the stock ones, and he said that there was something else but i would never figure it out, so i hope that that gives another clue or something casue i can't figure it out

IHateHacks 05-28-2007 02:24 PM

Big deal, it had underdrive pulleys on it. A waste of money on a non-track driven vehicle.

And "something else you will never figure out" hmm that narrows it down...

dcrusupra 05-28-2007 03:44 PM

Pulleys wouldnt make that big of a deal. And if you do have him put the aftermarket pulleys back on, tell him to leave the crank pulley.

IHateHacks 05-28-2007 07:21 PM

Why don't you just start modding it yourself? Put a 3" turbo back exhaust with no cats on it, then install a walbro 255lph fuel pump. Jack the boost up to 12psi and then go laugh at your dad.

supraboy380 05-28-2007 09:56 PM

lol i would but i don't really know enough by myself and i usually end up asking him for help, and then he prolly wouldn't help me, but i kept bugging him and he said that hed help me retune it, so thanks guys for all your help!!!
