Default Rusty Rear Wheel Arches

Need some recommendations on rust treatment products such as rust bullet, kurust, permatex etc etc. Decided to tackle the problem of my rusty rear wheel arches, which is a common problem in the UK, and I guess with the Supra fifteen to twenty years old it can only be expected. Replacement front wings are not an issue they can be obtained from Toyota or from a body/panel supplier as a pattern part at reasonable cost. They simply bolt straight on, the problem with the rear wings they need to be welded into the roof, inner body skin and rear section of the body and are three times the price of the front wings, thats if you can get hold of them. One alternative in the UK is to buy a wing from another car manufacture that has a similar profile, and fabricate it to fit the Supra rear wheel arch then mig weld it in. Due to cost I can only pursue the rust treatment method.

I've removed most of the rust by grinding it out but there is still some areas that are pitted, so before I can apply any body filler or zinc paint etc I need to treat what's left of the rust, as I said at the begin any recommendation that are from experience of use (not what it says on the tin) would be appreciated good or bad.

Unhappy

I'd talk to some body pros first. Years ago we had a body shop as parts of our business. i did not pay much attention to it, as I was a technician in the repair end.

I do remember hearing that "if you don't get ALL of the rust out, it would come back, like cancer. In fact, we always called it car cancer. Bubbling under the paint in the beginning.

But if you do end up actually repairing/replacing the panels, you should have a customizing shop install 'wide' fenders, to accomodate fatter tires.
