Custom Supra Hood (Fast and Furious style)

Yea well i came up with an idea and im goin to ask if it will work. i want to place meshing where the holes are, just because thats the look im going for, but i mean there is still an open hole in my hood, so i wonder it i should weld the meshing under my hood so it shows up in the holes, and then place plexi-glass inder the meshing, and then sealer around the rim of the meshing and plexi-glass, this way the water wouldnt fall into my engine, but, that means it would stay in my meshing until it evaporated, would this rust and eat away mu hood? or is there something i can like cover the metal with, like a coat of something that wont let water eat the metal???
