Talking Top Speed

I have done 210km\h in mine...it was still pushing though. I have a 1988 T, auto. And for all you out there...the final gear/overdrive in the auto is the SAME as 5th in the manual 5 spd off of the turbo. I have both, and have tested both.

no you dont have an extra gear
if it says 4 speed with overdrive
it only means you have four gears

the only thing overdrive does
is allow the car to push for more rpms
instead of holding it back
basically pushing your shift point to a higher level
not giving you an extra gear k?

if you have the overdrive off you can only go about 70 without redlining it.

have you ever been driving your car at a constant speed than turned the overdrive on? it drops about 500rpm

idk what the overdrive in supras do

but i had driven two cars with overdrive
one being mine

i can drive a constant 60 mph at 4000 rpms
if i put the overdirve mine
is like a mini nos boost
cuz it jumps onto 6000 rpms

without the overdrive
my car shifts at a constant 3500 rpms
with overdrive it shifts at 6000 +

thats jus my opinion tho, maybe sumbody that knows more about this
can clarify this

Default Always check this site for knowledge

OK fellas, enough of the 'guessing' game.

Go here and try to learn as much as you can.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/automa...ansmission.htm

And if you never do anything else, take some auto classes at your local college.

Why, because, that's why.

Yea, they are pretty complicated. I used to rebuild them. You need many special tools, and a press.

But...if the oil is changed regular, an add-on cooler is added, and they are not overly abused, they will last 200k or more.

not if you put as much abuse like i did

after that i knew that automatics
would not last long
if youre using the car to drift
and/or burning

those are jus the few things that cant be enjoyed that well
with an auto
no dissing tho, you can relax
and put your hand over your girl
or grab a tit or sumthing
with an auto
see... you guys do have an upside
on driving an auto

use that next time sumbody says anything about
your automatics

Cool Lol!!

Grab a tit eh?

Well yeah, auto's are nice if you don't want to drive your supra....lol. I have an auto, but that is just because it came with my car, and I havn't taken the time to put in my 5 spd.

The Auto trans on the Supra is nice however, it provides the same gearing in overdrive as 5 gear in the 5 spd.

I have noticed that there is about a 600-750RPM difference when it shifts into overdrive. It helps out, but I still cannot top out my tranny in overdrive with the stock turbo.
