Default idle difference with new filter

i know theres already a thread about ibtakes but i would like an answer quickly. i just installed a new intake filter on my car, 86.5 n/a. i left all the stock intake hoses, just the new filter. when i turned on my car it started idling at about 750-800 rpm, then after a few seconds it dropped and began idling at about 550-600 rpm. is this normal? a bad thing? how can i fix it? thanks for your help in advance.

is it possible when you put on the filter you didnt get the MAF plugged back in porperly or the plug came loose? try pulling that plug off and plugging it back in again.
