What kind of car?
If it's an MKIII, unfortunately it probably is the head gasket. However, check out the reply from suprra_girl first. Any leak in the system can cause overheating and you may have more that one problem. If you do replace the head gasket BE SURE to check the head for cracks and trueness before you put it back together. I also STRONGLY recomend you replace the gasket on your EGR cooler WHILE THE HEAD IS OFF. This gasket probably now leaks due in part to your overheating and will cause you more problems down the road and is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to change with the head on. (I know this from experience) Good luck and welcome to the 'head gasket' club. |
