Thumbs up For Supra91

Is there a mount for the O2 sensor on your header? I just installed a new sensor to pass emissions here in NJ. They test you every 2 years. I see you live in Conneticut, or as the truckers say, the Communist state. Jersey is pretty much the same. Are you saying that you have to reinstall the stock manifold just to pass inspection, or is it that you can't get your emissions down enough with your set-up? I would definitely not want to reinstall the manifold every 2 years, no f-in way. Anyway, my water pump just crapped out on me and my baby's in the shop right now. After that, I need to replace the valve cover gaskets. So it will be a while before I seriously contemplate the exhaust upgrade. I really appreciate all the input you can give me Supra91, thanks a lot.

Default Sorry!

Screwed up again, it was ddmcse who lives in CT. I knew someone on this thread was from there. Anyway, if you install the header on an NA, is there a mount for the O2 sensor. Supra91 mentioned something about making adjustments or something to that nature. Now that I think about it, I can't even remember exactly where I installed the sensor. Was it directly on the manifold, or behind it on the block. I did it in the dark with a dull droplight. I think it was the manifold, so a header would have to have mount, wouldn't it.

^ The O2 sensor mounts in the exhaust usually in the header. The moddification needed on an aftermarket header is usually to extend the wires of the oxygen sensor to reach the bung on the header. Aftermarket headers usually have long individual runners for each cylinder and come together further along the header than your stock manifold (which pretty much just comes out and together imediately). That's the only real modification needed to make a decent aftermarket header work w/ your car. Unless your state are real nazi's (i.e. California) I don't see why having an aftermarket header would imediately fail you on an emissions test.

But what do I know...I live in New Mexico (No emission controls)

sorry for not replying sooner

anyway...the pacesetter header(i don't know about the obx one) doesnt have the o2 sensor mounting location of the header itself, its on the extension pipe that connects the header to the rest of the exhaust. if you wanted to you could drill a hole into the header and mount it there.

the o2 sensor does mount on the stock header
